Vaughan’s first ever Festa d’Italia was ‘fantastica’
Thousands came out to celebrate Italian culture, food, music and more!
Italian culture, food, music and community spirit took centre stage this weekend in Vaughan! On June 1, thousands of residents and visitors gathered at Boyd Conservation Park for the City of Vaughan’s first ever Festa d’Italia to enjoy a full day of free entertainment, activities and fun!
“Italian Canadians have played a crucial role in shaping Vaughan, enriching our cultural diversity and contributing to our collective goal of building a world-class city for everyone,” said Mayor Steven Del Duca.
“I was thrilled to see so many members of the community join us at this truly spectacular occasion – our first ever Festa d’Italia. It was an opportunity to honour the profound impact Vaughan’s Italian community has had on our city and recognize their enduring legacy. As we continue to mark Italian Heritage Month in June, I want to thank everyone who attended this incredible event and look forward to celebrating with everyone again next year.”
Festa d’Italia, presented by Pizza Nova, honoured and commemorated the richness of Italian art, heritage and culture. Festivities included greetings from Mayor Del Duca and Members of Council, headline performances by Italian pop legends I Cugini di Campagna, traditional Italian dances, various local Italian artists and so much more.
Celebrations continue all month long! The City will be hosting a flag-raising ceremony to recognize Italian Heritage Month at Vaughan City Hall on Monday, June 9 at 2 p.m.
