Winter Maintenance
The City of Vaughan provides residents with a high level of snow removal services. Whether it’s reducing ice or removing snow on roads or clearing it from paths, sidewalks and windrows, the City’s crews strive to ensure residents and visitors can travel safely despite the weather.
The City’s winter maintenance operations include salting, windrow clearing, plowing and snow removal along more than 2,200 lane-kilometres of roads and 1,200 kilometres of sidewalks throughout the city.
Community & Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS) Snow Removal Program
CHATS is a not-for-profit organization providing home and community support to older adults across York Region and South Simcoe since 1980. The CHATS Snow Removal Program is a paid service that connects individuals to pre-approved service providers. The cost for snow clearing is paid for by the homeowner. Subsidies are available based on the completion of a financial assessment.
Services include driveway snow removal and walkway clearing to the front/main door. If requested by the homeowner, CHATS will deliver two 20 kilogram (44 pound) bags of salt for the resident to use on their walkways at no extra charge (service does not include application of the salt).
This program is available to Vaughan residents aged 55 and older or with age-related illness, for up to a maximum of 150 residents served. The program runs from Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, until Monday, April 15, 2024.
Spots for the 2023/24 season are now filled. To learn more about the program, visit chats.on.ca/snow.
