Major Mackenzie Drive watermain to supply water for Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital
Watermain
will continue to provide safe drinking water to the community
The City of Vaughan is replacing the watermain along Major Mackenzie Drive, between Jane and Keele Streets. This project will become the main source of water supply to Vaughan’s first hospital, the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. This will be Canada’s first hospital with fully integrated smart technology and will employ more than 1,800 full-time staff with up to 550 hospital beds.
The watermain will also
ensure the ongoing distribution of safe and reliable drinking water to
businesses, residents and visitors of Vaughan.
Temporary lane closures
will continue to be required along Major Mackenzie Drive West with one lane
open to traffic. Signs have been posted along the route and on adjacent streets
to notify drivers. The City is using advanced technology to reduce traffic. Please
continue to expect possible delays.
The construction is
scheduled to be completed by the end of fall 2018.
The City asks for
patience as we work to build a better Vaughan and for the benefit of our
community.
