Noor Din Vaughan Civic Hero Award

Noor Din arrived in Canada from Pakistan in 1990. Over the years, he has become involved in many cultural, community and senior organizations in the City of Vaughan, giving his time to develop programs and activities that help others integrate into Canadian society.

Among Mr. Din's numerous accomplishments include the founding of Human Endeavour, a not-for-profit organization he created to combat poverty, and promote peace and democracy in developing countries around the world, Mr. Din has served as Vice-President of the Seniors' Association of Vaughan Initiative (SAVI), a senior services group based in Vaughan, and is also active with the Punjabi Community Health Centre to provide culturally appropriate services to the South Asian community in York and Peel Regions.

He has used his experience in the technology industry to offer free computer classes to new immigrants at the Pierre Berton Resource Library.

 

Mr. Din's other involvement includes: the Vaughan Community Health Centre Advisory Committee; the Central LHIN Seniors Advisory Committee; Community Leadership Resources, United Way of York Region; COSTI Immigrant Services; Community Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS), and the City of Vaughan's Community Equity and Diversity Committee.
