In 2004, the Candido's helped lead a neighbourhood committee of volunteers in organizing Angelina-fest, a celebration open to residents of Angelina Avenue and adjoining streets on both sides of Kiplilng Avenue below Highway 7. Angelina-fest raised funds for such causes as the Vaughan Health Care Foundation and Shining Through, a local charity to support autistic children.
"A subdivision is not a neighbourhood until the residents develop a personal connection with each other," said Ward 2 Councillor Tony Carella, who nominated the Candidos for the award. "In creating an occasion for residents to spend time together in a good cause, the Candido's have presented a gift of their time, talents, and superb organizing skills to all of their neighbours."
