Concord West Urban Design Framework + Streetscape Plan
Purpose:
The purpose of the Concord West Urban Design Streetscape Plan is to provide an Urban Design Framework, Streetscape Plan, and Phasing/ Implementation Plan for the Concord West Community.
The study will support Vaughan and York Region Official Plan objectives and be coordinated with the community, Regional vivaNext bus rapid transitway planned for Highway 7, and the York Region "Class Environmental Assessment Study for Keele Street from Steeles Avenue to Rutherford Road".
Study Area:
The Streetscape Plan study area extends east-west along Regional Road 7 from Centre Street to just west of the intersection of Keele and Regional Road 7; and north-south along Keele Street from just north of the Keele and Regional Road 7 intersection to Highway 407.
The Urban Design Framework study area extends east-west along Regional Road 7 from Bowes Road/Baldwin Avenue, along to the westerly end of the CN rail yards (bordering the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre); and north-south along Keele Street from the intersection of Rivermede Road in the north, to two blocks south of Highway 407, municipally known as 7250 Keele Street.
The Urban Design Framework excludes the Concord Centre lands identified in the Official Plan as Secondary Plan Areas to be Approved. (See Schedule 14-A in the Draft City of Vaughan Official Plan).
Timeframe:
The study began in June 2010 and the final draft completed in November 2012. Implementation of the project is in coordination with the vivaNext bus rapid transit project and the City of Vaughan's City-Wide Streetscape Implementation Manual and Financial Strategy.
