Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua today presented a cheque for $1 million to the Mackenzie Health Foundation from proceeds from the Mayor’s Gala and Golf Tournament.

“This donation is for the future of our community – the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital,” said Mayor Bevilacqua. “As a growing City, we have long understood the need to expand and improve healthcare services for our residents and businesses. There has been tremendous progress towards realizing the dream of a hospital for our City and the generosity of this community will continue to move us forward. I would like to thank Mackenzie Health and the province of Ontario for their commitment to this project. The co-operation between all levels of government shows that we are all working towards a common goal – to provide the best healthcare possible to the people of Vaughan.”

Ingrid Perry, president and CEO of the Mackenzie Health Foundation, and Fraser Nelson, chair of the Mackenzie Health Foundation, accepted the donation. The Mackenzie Health Foundation raises funds in support of the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. The hospital will be built on City-owned lands at Major Mackenzie Dr. and Jane St.

The donation includes $430,000 that was raised at the Mayor’s Galas through a live auction for dinner with the Mayor.
