Where story time meets nature
Explore five new books through our StoryWalk trails
StoryWalk is back by popular demand this summer with another five Canadian children’s books for families to explore! Brought to life by Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) and the City of Vaughan’s Public Works teams, StoryWalk combines the joys of reading with the wonders of nature. This exciting global initiative promotes literacy, health and exercise in communities around the world.
With each step along the trail, the story unfolds one page at a time in this immersive experience. StoryWalk is the perfect opportunity to get active outdoors with your family and friends in a place where books come to life beneath the open sky.
StoryWalk is available along the following public trails:
- Mackenzie Glen District Park (Ward 1): Friends for Real by Ted Staunton
- Nort Johnson District Park (Ward 2): Sometimes I Feel Like a River by Danielle Daniel
- Lawford Park (Ward 3): Pink is for Everybody by Ella Russell
- Sugarbush Heritage Park (Ward 4): Biindigen!: Amik Says Welcome by Nancy Cooper
- Marita Payne Park (Ward 5): The Most Magnificent Idea by Ashley Spires
VPL partnered with several Canadian publishers to bring the StoryWalk program back to Vaughan. This year’s collection features five books written by diverse Canadian authors.
When visiting a trail in your area, use the hashtag #LoveVPL on social media to share pictures and videos of your outdoor fun. Remember not to disturb or get close to wildlife while you’re enjoying the trails.
