VMC Parks and Wayfinding Master Plan Project Updates
The contract for the study was awarded in April 2020 to a team led by landscape architect Janet Rosenberg & Studio and work began in May 2020. The study is targeted for completion in 2024.
Timeline
Phase 1: Background and Analysis
Review of the currently planned parks and open space network, current City policies and parkland targets and gaps in park access, while accounting for the higher development density within the VMC. Complete
October 3, 2022 VMC PWMP Assessment Report
Phase 2: Program and Plan
Undertake a collaborative design process to develop concepts that define the character and program of the parks and open spaces proposed for the VMC, including facilities and potential park locations. The result of this phase will be a preferred master plan scenario. Complete

Phase 3: Costs and Implementation
Establish a phasing and development plan for parks in the VMC that accounts for population growth, and includes an estimate of costs, operations and maintenance requirements and identification of priority areas for new parks. Complete
Phase 4: Master Plan Document
Combine the work prepared in the previous stages into a comprehensive document that will guide the timely development of parks and open space in the VMC. Complete

Phase 5: Advanced Signage
Design and develop a pedestrian and cycling signage system for the sidewalks and parks in the VMC, including full-size prototypes and manage a pilot installation to evaluate them. Complete
