Citizens and developers can now view, apply and pay for building permits electronically

The City of Vaughan has launched a new digital permitting portal enabling citizens and building industry professionals to apply, track and pay for permits online. As services continue to be modified and transitioned online in response to COVID-19, this is the latest effort taken by the City to support citizens, businesses and the local economy in these challenging times. Discover the portal at vaughan.ca/PermitPortal.

Through the tool, registered users can view previously submitted permits, apply for new permits and pay for a portion of approved permits virtually with a secure login. The remaining portion can be paid by credit card – as long as it does not exceed $1,000.  For further assistance with permit fees, call 905-832-8510 and ask to speak with a Building Standards Department Customer Service Representative. Amounts exceeding this limit can be paid by cheque, made out to the City of Vaughan. All types of building permits, ranging from small decks and accessory structures to large industrial and tall buildings, can be submitted. The platform also offers users 24/7 access to Vaughan’s permitting information.

With the intake of digital permit applications, the City is now equipped to electronically review residential and commercial plans as part of the building permit submission process. The use of the portal creates a fully paperless submission process, allowing city-building opportunities to continue and further supports the City’s commitment to environmental stewardship during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond – a priority outlined in the 2018-2022 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan.
