Vaughan observes Remembrance Day

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua has issued the following statement.
Every year on Nov. 11, people in Vaughan and across the country pause in a moment of silence to remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country during times of war and conflict.

The men and women who defend our freedom embody the ultimate manifestation of servant leadership. Our veterans, past and present, stand on guard to protect principles and values that are worth fighting for and important to Canadians.

One day is not enough to pay tribute to everything our veterans have done for us, but it is a time to pause and remember that the freedom and opportunities we have today came at a great cost. Today we reflect and honour the men and women who paid the ultimate price for our democratic principles.

We will forever respect the lives of our veterans by remaining true to the values and beliefs that they represent. We will never forget.
