All levels of government are responding to the global pandemic
The City of Vaughan continues to work closely with all levels of government to monitor and respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the health and well-being of citizens and staff. Although progress has been made in the fight against the virus, there is still more work to be done to combat the second wave. Everyone has a role to play in stopping the spread.
Each level of government has different roles and responsibilities in helping to break the chain of transmission of this virus.

York Region is responsible for –

- Seniors housing
- Shelter support
- Transit (YRT, vivaNext)
- Winter maintenance for regional roads
The Province of Ontario is responsible for –
- Business support and closures
- Colleges and universities
- COVID-19 testing
- Healthcare
- Hospitals
- LCBO
- List of non-essential businesses
- Schools
The Government of Canada is responsible for –
- Access to credit
- Business support
- Canada Child Benefit
- Canada Emergency Response Benefit
- Canada Student Loans
- Employee support
- Employment Insurance (EI)
- Foreign travel and support for Canadians abroad
- Income tax
Many resources are available for people to stay informed and learn more about the different roles and responsibilities of the municipal, regional, provincial and federal governments in an emergency.
