Help clear leaves from catch basins to prevent flooding

While they may ‘catch’ some leaves and other materials, catch basins need to be cleared to allow rainwater to drain properly!

Catch basins are stormwater drains located in the road, and they ensure rainwater makes its way back into ponds, streams and lakes. But if a catch basin is blocked or covered by yard materials or debris when it’s raining, water can pool and cause flooding.

If you live closest to a catch basin, you’re encouraged to help clear it, if it’s safe to do so – especially before heavy rainfall.
