The City of Vaughan is reminding residents to do your part to keep everyone safe, including your four-legged friends, when out enjoying the fall weather. Dogs must be kept on a leash, unless at the off-leash dog park, and remain in the control of their handler at all times.
When dogs are at the off-leash dog park, handlers must follow these rules:
- Leash your dog upon entering or exiting the off-leash area.
- Follow the limit of three dogs per handler.
- Ensure dogs are spayed or neutered.
- Ensure your dog is vaccinated and in good health.
- Ensure puppies have their 16-week shots, including a rabies vaccination. Puppies must be at least four months of age in order to enter the off-leash area.
- Ensure dogs are licensed and wearing a visible licence tag at all times.
- Ensure dogs are under control and in sight of their handler at all times.
- Ensure all pet excrement is picked up – it’s the law.
- Fill any holes your dog digs.
- Do not bring human food and glass bottles.
- Keep aggressive dogs out of the off-leash area.
- Do not use spiked or pinch collars.
- Respect the rights of others and the rules of park use.
By following these rules, everyone can use the off-leash dog park at 299 Racco Parkway safely.
