Mayor Bevilacqua Leads Innovative Business Mission to Israel

Aug. 14, 2013

Planning for the City of Vaughan’s business mission to Israel in late September is well underway, with a number of companies signed up to participate in this innovative international program that is being headed up by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua.

Some of the confirmed delegates are already making connections with Israeli businesses to network and prepare for their future international expansion. A business-to-business match-making process is a key component of the mission.

“This business mission will help position the City of Vaughan and the organizations that are members of our delegation for global networking, growth and expansion in a country with a thriving economy,” said Mayor Bevilacqua. “Vaughan is a growing city, and we must maintain a competitive edge in today’s ever-changing global economy. This mission will allow us to build strategic relationships with leading Israeli companies, network with high-level government officials and gain perspective into Israel’s rapidly developing industrial, financial and high-tech service sectors.”

The mission, which will run from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6, 2013, will be led by Mayor Bevilacqua and will include Ward 2 Councillor Tony Carella and Ward 5 Councillor Alan Shefman. The City has partnered with the United Jewish Appeal Federation (UJA), the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, the Government of Israel Economic Mission to Canada, Canada Israel Chamber of Commerce and ColdSpring Commerce to organize a series of activities designed to achieve a high return on investment for all participants.

Organizations that have already confirmed their participation in this mission include Groundheat Systems Inc., SLG Consulting, Renewables and Energy Savings, Centennial College, York University, Elias Custom Metal Fabrication Ltd., Mircom Group of Companies, CG Technologies, Canadian Gift Concepts/ABA Science Play, Gulf & Pacific Equities Corp., CompuOffice Software Inc., Union Marketing, ColdSpring Commerce, ChannelLine and private investors, among others.

Centred in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem, the mission will focus on a number of innovative industry sectors including advanced manufacturing, environmental and green products, security, information technology, and scientific and technical products.

The mission is part of the City’s Israel International Business Development Program to develop meaningful commercial linkages between Israel and Vaughan. It aims to position the City as a North American gateway to do business by tapping into high-end innovation and gaining access to advanced products in Israel.
