Play, learn and have fun in Vaughan’s March Break camps!

Registration opens on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 8:30 a.m.

Explore a variety of fun programs your children can enjoy this March Break with the City of Vaughan! In-person March Break camps for kids aged four to 12 years old will be held on weekdays from Monday, March 14 to Friday, March 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Al Palladini, Chancellor, Dufferin Clark, Maple, North Thornhill, Rosemount, Woodbridge and Vellore Village community centres. Online registration opens on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 8:30 a.m. at vaughan.perfectmind.com. Camp offerings vary depending on location, and include:

Cartoon Computer Animation (for children aged six to 11 years old): Bring your stories to life! Learn to storyboard, create short computer-animated cartoons, television shows or movies.
Location: Vellore Village Community Centre

Engineering of Travel (for children aged seven to 12 years old): Design your very own boats, robots, rockets and roads to see who can travel the farthest and fastest around the world.
Location: Al Palladini Community Centre

Hands-on Robotics (for children aged six to 11 years old): Using LEGO® education sets, build several robots based on one of these themes: animals (creatures of all kinds), transportation (cars/vehicles), or toys and tools.
Location: Dufferin Clark Community Centre

Film Making (for children aged nine to 14 years old): Film a blockbuster to watch with family and friends! Learn how to storyboard, develop a script, experiment with camera angles, edit, add special effects, music and titles.
Locations: Rosemount and Vellore Village community centres

Full STEAM Ahead! (for children aged seven to 12 years old): Create acrylic paintings and mosaic art, draw cartoons, model sculptures out of clay or paper mâché. Then challenge yourself to exciting STEM activities, like the egg drop or marble run, and design innovative structures using simple craft materials.
Locations: North Thornhill Community Centre and Pierre Berton Heritage Centre

Learn to Love Skate (for children aged six to 12 years old): Learn skating basics such as balance, control and gliding on two feet. One hour a day is dedicated to instructional skating, followed by recreational skating featuring fun activities and games.
Locations: Al Palladini, Maple, Rosemount and Woodbridge community centres 

March Madness (for children aged four to 12 years old): Enjoy arts and crafts, sports, games, dancing, themed activities and outdoor play, weather permitting. (Participants will be split into junior and senior age groups.)
Locations: Chancellor, Dufferin Clark, North Thornhill and Vellore Village community centres

Splash into Sports Camp (for children aged seven to 12 years old): Play some of your favourite sports in and out of the water. Basketball, soccer and sporty theme days are just a few of the exciting activities planned.
Locations: Al Palladini, North Thornhill and Vellore Village community centres

Sticks and Steel Hockey (for children aged seven to 12 years old): Through instruction and high tempo drills, players will develop basic skills such as stickhandling, making and receiving passes on both forehand and backhand, shooting, stride/edge control and skating speed.
Locations: Al Palladini, Maple, Rosemount and Woodbridge community centres 

Teen Fitness Camp (for youth aged 12 to 16 years old): Learn proper workout techniques, how to use cardio and weight training equipment, and receive nutrition tips from Vaughan Fitness staff. Finish off your fitness routine with a swim in the pool two to three times a week.
Locations: Father E. Bulfon, Maple and North Thornhill community centres

Kool Holidays (for children ages seven to 12 years old with special needs): Spend your days creating arts and crafts, playing co-operative games and staying active with new friends. With a focus on improving social skills and friendship, expe­rienced camp counsellors provide an intensive level of attention, support and encouragement at this camp geared to individuals with special needs.
Locations: Dufferin and Maple community centres

Virtual programs
The City will also offer virtual programs live-streamed via Zoom for youth aged 11 to 16 years old during March Break. Programs include:

Babysitting Basics (for youth aged 11 to 14 years old): Learn some must-have babysitting skills before your first job, including basic first aid, how to respond to an emergency and manage difficult behaviour in a positive way.

Building an Online Business 101 (for youth aged 12 to 16 years old): Kick-start your own online business! Craft a compelling business idea and strategy. Arm yourself with marketing basics and find out how to pitch and promote your business. Learn key digital tools and techniques to get your digital entrepreneurial venture off the ground.

All virtual programs will run for one and a half hours daily. Internet access and a computer with audio and video capabilities are required. A Zoom link to the program will be provided in the email confirmation upon registering. Parent or guardian assistance may be required.

Masks are mandatory when entering, exiting, and travelling through City facilities and while watching or waiting for program participants. Masks must be worn while participating in programs, except during physical activity. Following the Province’s announcement that Ontario will be cautiously and gradually easing additional public health measures, the City will no longer require proof of vaccination for patrons at community centres as of Tuesday, March 1.
