#ShopVaughanLocal continues
There are many ways to
support local businesses
The City of Vaughan remains committed to working with all levels of government to stand up for entrepreneurs and small-business owners, and to maintain the competitiveness of the local economy during the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic.
In
April, the #ShopVaughanLocal campaign was launched encouraging residents to support
the local economy by shopping at local businesses and restaurants. There are
many ways to make a difference:
- Dine at or order take-out or delivery from a local restaurant
- Buy gift cards for local businesses
- Shop in store or order online from local businesses
- Share your local love using #ShopVaughanLocal
York
Region is providing tips on how to protect
customers and employees when working and shopping, and a toolkit for reopening during
COVID-19. The province has also put forward the principles of the People Outside Safely Together Promise, encouraging small
businesses to strictly follow health guidelines and reopen with appropriate
measures in place so consumers can shop safely and with confidence. In
addition, the province, in partnership with various health and safety
organizations, has also released sector-specific
guidelines
in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. These documents help workplaces better
understand their responsibilities and include best practices they can use to
help them comply with their legal obligation to protect the health and safety
of workers, customers and the public.
The
#ShopVaughanLocal campaign is just one of the many measures introduced by the
City to provide relief to the business community and help ease the financial
burden caused by COVID-19. The City’s Economic and Cultural Development team is
monitoring the impact of the pandemic and has many resources available on its
website: vaughanbusiness.ca.
The team
is available to help businesses access support provided by the Government of
Canada and stakeholder organizations. They also continue to offer advisory
consultations for business via tele- or video-conference as well as hosting
informative webinars.
