Registration is now open for swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses

 

Grab your pool floaties and dive in! Registration is now open for the City of Vaughan’s summer swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses. Programming starts on Tuesday, July 4 at community centre pools. View the list of schedules at vaughan.perfectmind.com.

 

Learn-to-swim programming is available for parents with tots aged four months and older, and runs up to levels specifically designed for adult non-swimmers. Training and certification in aquatic leadership courses for residents aged 13 years and older is aimed at preparing youth for future employment as a swim instructor or lifeguard.

 

The City’s online registration system is available 24-7 and features enhanced search filters, allowing you to sort by level, location, day and time. Details can be found at vaughan.ca/swim.

Summer recreation programs

Registration for summer recreation programs starts on Thursday, May 11. All programs start on Tuesday, July 4.

 

Recreation program highlights include:

 

  • Family (parent and child): dance, toddler playtime, bootcamp and outdoor mindfulness, including toddler yoga, nature play and sing-alongs
  • Preschool: drawing, dance, basketball, taekwondo, outdoor mindfulness, STEM, Vaughan Playschool kindergarten readiness summer program, and reading and writing specialty
  • Children: taekwondo, drawing, basketball, volleyball, tennis, archery, robotics and web development
  • Youth: taekwondo, computer programming and a volunteer leadership program that leads to recreation volunteer positions at Vaughan community centres
  • Adult: yoga, badminton, tennis, pickleball, a Vaughan Sports Volleyball League and new backyard pool safety clinics
  • Older Adult: muscle conditioning, yoga and tai chi
  • Inclusion: day programs for adults with disabilities featuring: bocce, bowling, cooking, social games, swimming and exercising in a fitness centre.

Donate to RecAssist

When registering, consider helping a family in need. Donations to RecAssist can now be made online at vaughan.perfectmind.com in denominations of $5, $10 or $25. One-hundred per cent of donations go towards RecAssist, the City's fee assistance program which helps subsidize the cost of recreation programs and swim lessons for low-income individuals and families in Vaughan. Tax receipts will be provided for donations of $25 or more. Learn more about fee assistance programs at vaughan.ca/recreation.
