Staying safe and vigilant
Follow public health protocols when enjoying weekend activities, including the Euro 2021 Championship
The weekend is fast approaching, and, however you’re planning to spend it, remember the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet. The City of Vaughan reminds everyone to stay vigilant and take precautions to stop its spread.
York Region Public Health asks residents to take the following steps:
- Practise physical distancing with anyone outside of your household by staying two metres away from everyone else.
- Wash your hands thoroughly and often.
- Practice respiratory etiquette.
- Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
- Wear a face mask or covering when inside public places and when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
- Clean high-touch surfaces often.
- Get vaccinated as soon as you are eligible to receive a vaccine.
- Download the COVID-Alert app.
- Monitor yourself for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek assessment and testing if necessary.
Celebrate Euro 2021 Championship safely
The City of Vaughan has a proud and enduring commitment to the game of soccer. Our community has dedicated athletes and coaches, passionate volunteers and fans. The enthusiasm for soccer is evident year-round and especially during the EURO 2021 Championship. Although we want residents to enjoy the games and to celebrate safely – there continues to be the global COVID-19 pandemic. Communities across the province must abide by the rules outlined in Step 2 of the Province's Roadmap to Reopening.
If you see any concerning public behaviour in response to the EURO Championship, please contact York Regional Police. For an emergency, dial 9-1-1 immediately. For non-emergencies, contact toll free at 1-866-876-5423.
The City continues to make the health and safety of the community a priority to stop the spread of COVID-19. On this front, the City's By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services department, in partnership with public health officials, York Regional Police and other levels of government, remains at the forefront in applying and enforcing the provincial regulations passed under the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020 (ROA), the directions of the Medical Officer of Health and the City’s COVID-19 Emergency Measures By-law.
Public complaints, concerns and inquiries should be reported to Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281 or accessvaughan@vaughan.ca.
