The City is relaunching the Starter Company Plus program for storefront, office and startup companies

The City of Vaughan knows that small businesses are the backbone of the community and support is still needed as they reopen and welcome customers back through their doors. That is why the City is relaunching the Starter Company Plus program. Participants will be offered training and assistance as they develop their business plans, marketing strategies and budgeting and financial forecasts.

Businesses registered for the program will receive training tailored to help adapt business models, access to free business advisor services and mentorship from a community of local small business owners, and tools and resources to help improve their digital presence. All training in the program will be delivered virtually to abide by physical distancing directives.

Select participants who are trained and successfully complete their business plan by Monday, Sept. 20 will have the opportunity to apply for up to $5,000 in grant funding to execute on their plans. Vaughan businesses interested in participating in the Starter Company Plus program can express interest by filling out the eligibility survey now at vaughanbusiness.ca/Starter-Company-Plus to begin the application process.

Programs like Starter Company Plus help the City fulfill the Vaughan Business Resilience Plan (PDF), which is a long-term plan to help Vaughan’s business community build capacity to adapt to the post-COVID-19 world. This program also encourages economic prosperity, social capital and showcases the City as a liaison and support centre for Vaughan’s business community, which is a Council priority outlined in the 2018-2022 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan.
