New blog also launching with ways businesses can adapt during COVID-19

Business leaders and entrepreneurs are getting creative through an ever-evolving COVID-19 business environment. This is the premise for season two of the Vaughan Rising Podcast and the new Vaughan Rising Blog series.

Produced by the City of Vaughan’s Economic and Cultural Development department, the Vaughan Rising Podcast explores Vaughan as the place for business and as a leader in city-building. While season one covered the city’s commercial real estate scene and mega-developments, season two will build on this momentum – addressing the major economic impact of COVID-19 and sharing how the Vaughan business community is responding to physical distancing restrictions in bold and innovative ways. The new Vaughan Rising Blog accompanying the podcast delves into ways Vaughan businesses can adapt in an eventual post-COVID-19 economy by providing practical resources.
Hosted by Economic Development Officer Michelle Samson, season two of the podcast features 10 episodes, 10 to 15 minutes each, examining the resilience of Vaughan’s businesses community during COVID-19 and talking to leaders who are pivoting, innovating and doing what it takes to make it through to the other side of the pandemic.

The premiere episode and blog provide lessons from Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and explore how the City has moved quickly and nimbly throughout the pandemic, like a business would. This podcast is available for download on most podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts and Stitcher.  More information is available at vaughanbusiness.ca/podcast and vaughanbusiness.ca/blog.

New podcast episodes and blog content will be released every other week with additional blog content available in between podcast episodes. The Vaughan Rising Podcast and Vaughan Rising Blog schedule to date is as follows:

The Vaughan Rising Podcast and Blog is another way the City is reaching out to residents and the business community with information and resources, aligning with the City’s Business Resilience Plan.
The Business Resilience Plan, which was presented to the City’s Ready, Resilient and Resourceful Committee of Council on June 23, focuses on securing Vaughan’s place as the Region’s largest employment centre, enhancing Vaughan’s key strategic economic drivers like the city’s downtown commercial zone, manufacturing and logistics, the health and tourism industries, and leveraging public spaces by supporting community events and the arts community.

The Vaughan Rising Podcast and Vaughan Rising Blog further enhance the citizen experience, promote city-building and highlight economic prosperity, investment and social capital in the city – all priorities outlined in the 2018-2022 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan.
