There’s no debate that the City of Vaughan’s yearly Waste Collection Schedule is one of the most popular City publications – and it’s being widely recognized for the second time.

The City’s 2024 Waste Collection Schedule (PDF) won Silver in the Municipal Waste Association’s 2024 Promotion and Education Awards in the Print Tool category!

Awards were given to municipalities that launched a creative and innovative campaign, tool, strategy, event or program that engaged residents in waste diversion. Winners were announced and presented with their awards at the Municipal Waste Association 2024 Spring Workshop on Wednesday, May 29. This achievement was recognized by Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council during a ceremonial presentation at the Tuesday, June 25 Council meeting.

The City’s 2024 Waste Collection Schedule is the culmination of extensive research and consultations with community members about how the schedule is used and what information matters most. It demonstrates our commitment to protecting the environment and fostering a sustainable community today and for future generations.

The design has a poster-like feel and a legend to follow leaf and yard waste collection, Double-Up Days, Curbside Giveaway Days and Christmas tree collection. To further champion the City’s waste diversion efforts, it includes helpful tips on how to dispose of items in each bin. Made with 100 per cent recycled paper, the schedule also reflects the City’s long-standing commitment to waste reduction. In addition, it includes reminders about Vaughan’s textile donation bins and the Recycle Coach app, both of which encourage recycling, reusing and building a stronger and more sustainable community.

Alongside highlighting the City’s many waste services, the schedule is also offered in personalized blue and yellow calendars based on collection zones and high-contrast black and white calendars for even easier readability. View or download them at vaughan.ca/WasteCalendar
