Vaughan’s Volunteer Recognition Awards
City to honour 55 outstanding recipients
during virtual event
The City of Vaughan’s
Volunteer Recognition Awards is an annual event that honours the outstanding
contributions of local volunteers. The ceremony will take place, virtually,
tonight at 7 p.m. at vaughan.ca/VolunteerAwards.
Not-for-profit
organizations and community groups in Vaughan were encouraged to nominate one
outstanding volunteer from 2021 whose passion and actions have made a positive
impact in the community. This year, 55 recipients will be recognized, and each have
received a framed volunteer recognition certificate, congratulatory letter and
lapel pin from Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua.
Awards will be
presented to youth aged 13- to 24-years-old and adults over the age of 25 whose
dedication to assisting others has been exceptional. Volunteers are recognized
for their generous community service in donating their time and energy to
important causes, contributing to the success and quality of life in the city of
Vaughan and beyond.
QUOTE
“I invite members of our community to watch the City of Vaughan’s 2022
virtual Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony tonight. This ceremony is one of
my most cherished City events because it celebrates dedicated, compassionate
and hard-working volunteers who represent the very best of what Vaughan
citizenship is truly all about. Anyone who has experienced the care and
compassion of a volunteer understands the invaluable contributions they make to
our community’s quality of life and overall well-being. The past few years have
been particularly challenging, but it is during these extraordinary times we
have seen citizens come together in the spirit of resiliency, hope and
generosity. I want to thank every local not-for-profit organization and
community group that took the time to nominate its ‘Most Outstanding Volunteer’
of the year. To each of this year’s honourees, please accept my sincerest
gratitude and appreciation for volunteering your time and talent to inspire
hope for a brighter future. Your dedicated efforts are making a lasting and
meaningful impact in our city and beyond.”
- Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua
