Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer
The Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer (HR) works with City departments to hire and retain talented individuals to be part of the Vaughan Public Service. Departmental services include providing information and resources on new employee onboarding, benefits and compensation, health, safety and wellness, and accessibility and diversity.
HR also manages and evaluates pay, develops recommendations about policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with relevant legislation, such as the Province of Ontario’s Employee Standards and the Pay Equity acts. This positions the City to attract and retain qualified employees, while remaining competitive in the labour market.
The City of Vaughan prides itself on being an accessible employer. In 2019, Vaughan City Hall was certified gold by the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) program, making it the first RHFAC Gold City Hall in Canada. A number of accessibility enhancements have been completed, including automatic door openers, tactile walking surface indicators at stair areas and accessible seating, among others.
