Public Sector Project Management Forum
The Public Sector Project Management Forum has been offering free events to Project Management practitioners in public sector organizations since 2002. Our latest event is an interactive workshop, focussing on the management of a portfolio of multiple projects. Participants in We Call It a Work Plan will explore some of the essential factors in project portfolio management, by discussing details, sharing experiences and considering approaches to establishing and maintaining effective project portfolio management in the public sector.
PLEASE NOTE: registration is limited to 40 participants – we ask that you discuss with your colleagues who can best represent your organization and have just one person register as we will have to remove some participants if the event is oversubscribed. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
Agenda
Breakout sessions
Participants will be randomly assigned to a breakout session to ensure balanced numbers across all discussion areas. Please come prepared to contribute to any of the 5 areas.
- Business Case Development: what information do we need about a new request, how do we make an informed decision as to whether and when it should move forward?
- Resource Management: who have we got, what skills do they have, which projects do they need to work on; this group will discuss capacity management across a limited set of resources.
- Work Plan Creation: how do we select from the list of approved initiatives to actually build a portfolio schedule? How good does our estimating and resource identification need to be to support creation?
- Work Plan Management: once we have built a schedule, how do we manage the inevitable change and get accurate status updates?
- Metrics and Reporting: what do we capture to report on progress and change to our senior leaders? How do we assess performance at the end of a quarter or year?
