Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The City of Vaughan continues to strengthen and build on its foundation of diversity, inclusion and equity and its commitment that all Vaughan community members are heard, appreciated and valued.

The City strives to foster a culture that is inclusive and respectful, where all citizens, employees, businesses and visitors are provided accessible opportunities to engage and participate, is proud to have diverse communities, and values the significant contributions diverse communities make to the cultural, economic and social achievements in Vaughan.

The City has developed a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy and multi-year action plan (PDF). This strategy and action plan aims to identify and address systemic discrimination and inequities in access to services, community participation and civic engagement.

Outcome of the War of 1812 Exhibit

The Outcome of the War of 1812 Exhibit is now on display at Vaughan City Hall. On loan from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the exhibit explores the war from the perspective of the First Nation. Educational panels, a 200-year timeline and story table tell the experience of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation whose ancestors were allied with the British and fought in the war. Learn more in the exhibit guide (PDF).

The display is open to the public Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Wednesday, July 3. After that, the exhibit will be on display at Pierre Berton Resource Library from Friday, July 5 to Friday, Aug. 2.
