Background
Following this flood event, the City undertook the Black Creek Stormwater Optimization Study Master Plan Environmental Assessment, which determined the section of Black Creek between Highway 7 and Highway 407 was more susceptible to flooding during rainfall. To identify a solution, prevent flooding and enhance the natural heritage system and public realm, the City initiated the Black Creek Renewal Municipal Class Environmental Assessment. The outcome of the study concluded that the best way to address flooding in this area was through the reconstruction and renewal of Black Creek, between Edgeley Pond (north of Highway 7) and Highway 407.
Previous public engagement
A public meeting was held May 2017 to inform the public of the Environmental Assessment study and provide the opportunity to submit feedback.
