About Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Plan
A key focus of this project is to move towards a road network where residential and collector streets – the types of streets with homes, schools, neighbourhood parks, local businesses and community centres – are safe, welcoming and comfortable for users of all ages and abilities. The City knows streets are best when they help everyone to feel connected, healthy and safe in their community, which is why this project is underway – to create a policy and resources to create streets where everyone feels welcomed.
Throughout this project, the City aims to:
- develop an updated process to help address traffic calming concerns in select neighbourhoods;
- promote road safety and ensure streets in Vaughan are comfortable and inviting for users of all ages, abilities and modes of travel;
- identify traffic calming measures that will help address road safety concerns throughout Vaughan; and
- develop a process to integrate traffic calming and speed management into the development or redevelopment of roads in Vaughan.
York Region is undertaking a similar process for regional roads, called the Traveller Safety Plan. More information about this region-wide project, including engagement opportunities, can be found at york.ca/TravellerSafety.
