Here’s what’s planned:

• Multi-use pathway: A new multi-use pathway will be built on the west side of Islington Avenue, from Highway 7 to Kiloran Avenue. Multi-use pathways are shared spaces for people walking and riding their bikes separated from those driving. These areas are within the boulevard along a roadway. This new path will connect the gap from existing cycling facilities along Islington Avenue, north of Langstaff Road to Highway 7. 

• In-boulevard cycle tracks: An in-boulevard cycle track will be built on Highway 7, from Islington Avenue to Bruce Street. In-boulevard cycle tracks are designated spaces for people riding bikes to do so separately from those walking or driving. These areas are marked with a bicycle symbol and diamond. These new tracks will allow cyclists to seamlessly travel north-south and east-west in Woodbridge. 

• Road safety enhancements: As part of these improvements, road safety will also be enhanced for all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists. Lane width reductions on Islington Avenue, from Langstaff Road to Willis Road, are planned to encourage slower vehicle speeds. The intersection of Islington Avenue and Kiloran Avenue will also be brought up to Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act compliance regulations.
