Responsibilities:
- Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with Lifesaving Society (LSS) program standards.
- Maintain current instructional awards in accordance with the governing bodies and departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepare a core plan along with daily lesson plans for all assigned instructional programs to be completed no later than the start of the second class.
- Be familiar and practiced with the City of Vaughan aquatic emergency procedures for instructional programs.
- Develop leadership skills that will improve both you and the aquatics unit.
- Perform other related aquatic duties as assigned that are in accordance with the job responsibilities or necessary departmental or corporate objectives.
Qualifications and requirements
Current holder of Standard First Aid/CPR-C issued within 3 years; Bronze Cross Award issued within 2 years; LSS Swim Instructor certification issued within 2 years; LSS Instructor issued within 2 years.
Experience with the City of Vaughan aquatic volunteer program or as an assistant instructor/lifeguard is preferred.
Must be at least 15 years of age.
Prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekend shifts; attend all training sessions.
Police Vulnerable Sector Check to be obtained upon offer of employment – results must be presented prior to employment start date.
Must maintain certifications on an ongoing basis.
