All facilities within parks closing in Vaughan
The City of Vaughan is closing all facilities within City parks
to the public, effective March 25 at 9 a.m., as a further precautionary measure
to keep citizens and staff safe and healthy as the number of cases of COVID-19 continues
to rise.
This is the latest measure taken by the City to encourage social distancing. On March 21, the public was advised to avoid playgrounds as the equipment is not sanitized. Close-proximity activities, like team sports, were also discouraged. Now, sports fields, tennis courts, dog parks and any other facilities within City parks will be closed and should not be used. Signage is being installed to reinforce the closures.
As well, all City facilities, including Vaughan City Hall, community centres and library branches, remain closed to the public. All community centre permits/rentals and recreational and library programming are also cancelled. Many City services continue to be available online at vaughan.ca or by calling Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281. Library services are available at vaughanpl.info.
The City is taking this opportunity to remind people to:
- Stay home if you are sick
- Practise social distancing
- Wash your hands with soap and water frequently
