Become a crosswalk hero in Vaughan!
Do you have a passion for road safety and enjoy working outdoors? Or want a flexible job where you can make a positive difference in your community? If this sounds like you or someone you know, apply now to become a crossing guard for the 2024-25 school year!
This important role helps children and families safely travel to and from school each day. The City of Vaughan has crossing guards who have been employed for 20, 25 and even 30 years! Some benefits include:
- regular, part-time hours.
- weekends, holidays and summers off.
- early morning and afternoon hours, leaving the bulk of the day free for other activities.
- up to three shifts per day – one in the morning, one at lunch and one in the afternoon; however, only about 10 per cent of locations have a lunch shift, most only have two shifts per day.
- varying shift times between 35 to 90 minutes depending on location.
With 122 crosswalk locations throughout Vaughan, full-time and standby crossing guards are needed to serve all locations.

Safety in school zones is a joint priority for the City's Transportation and Fleet Management Services, By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services and Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service departments.
