Vaughan employees have raised more than $1 million since 1994

The City of Vaughan has a long-standing tradition of helping not-for-profit organizations that provide essential programs and services to residents in Vaughan and beyond. Every year, City staff support the United Way Greater Toronto by taking part in a variety of fundraising efforts to create opportunities and offer resources that help individuals build a better future.

In a special presentation at Committee of the Whole today, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Members of Council, and City of Vaughan United Way committee chair Stephanie Brienza presented a cheque for $90,000 to Daniele Zanotti, president and CEO of United Way Greater Toronto. This total includes a contribution from Mayor Bevilacqua’s Spirit of Generosity commitment.

Since the City started participating in the annual United Way campaign in 1994, more than $1 million have been raised. Through volunteer-led initiatives, such as a ball hockey tournament at Vaughan City Hall, a fire-truck pull, a pool tournament, a CN Tower Climb and many silent auctions, City staff continually demonstrate generosity and compassion through their support, which raises funds and brings much-needed awareness to local organizations.
