Hot off the press: Vaughan’s golden decade
Annual Celebrate Vaughan magazine offers important news, information and resources
Check your mailbox! The 2020 edition of the City of Vaughan’s Celebrate Vaughan magazine is being delivered to homes and businesses this week. The magazine serves as a source of information on what is going on throughout the year in the City.
This year’s issue of Vaughan’s signature publication highlights the City’s major recent milestones, including the ground-breaking collaboration with Mackenzie Health, York University and ventureLAB to identify opportunities to maximize the use of the land surrounding the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, the dynamic evolution of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) and the arrival of the first university in Vaughan – Niagara University.
The centrepiece of Celebrate Vaughan is the City’s annual Momentum Report, which provides a comprehensive review of the innovative and dynamic accomplishments that have been achieved in the last year. These include a recap of important projects such as the launch of Service Vaughan – a self-service online reporting and follow-up tool, the initiation of converting streetlights to Light-Emitting Diode (LED) technology and the opening of three new roads in the VMC.
Articles showcase how the City is attracting more visitors than ever before as a result of its vibrant new downtown core, world-class attractions and expansion of entertainment offerings. This will be bolstered by the newly formed Tourism Vaughan Corporation (TVC), which provides long-term strategic planning to increase business travel and tourism to the city.
The magazine also highlights various events taking place throughout the year, including the City’s award-winning Winterfest, provides a resource guide for residents called At Your Service and features a profile on Vaughan’s innovative library system. It is available online at vaughan.ca/news and can be viewed through mobile devices, tablets and computers.
QUOTE
“As we reflect on Vaughan’s remarkable transformation over the past 10 years – and look toward the promise of a new decade – we will continue moving our city forward together. City-building is a labour of love and, each day, I have the pleasure of working alongside an engaged Council, dedicated staff and engaged citizens who put heart, passion and professionalism into everything they do. This week, every resident and business in the City will receive a copy of our Celebrate Vaughan magazine. This publication was created for citizens – our most valued shareholders – as a means to keep them informed of the exciting initiatives that are planned and currently underway in Vaughan. It covers every aspect of city building, from the dollars and cents of our finances to the heart and soul of our social programs and initiatives. I am proud to share the latest issue of the Celebrate Vaughan magazine because it is the manifestation of our dedicated efforts toward continuous improvement, captured in one document. With values rooted in hope, optimism and determination, we are leading with purpose, making Vaughan one of the best places to live and work.”
