The City of Vaughan collected 7,725 toys for CTV’s Toy Mountain in support of the Salvation Army. The City hosted the third annual event on December 17 at the North Thornhill Community Centre.

CTV and The Salvation Army are partners in providing disadvantaged children with a toy to open during the holidays. The Toy Mountain Drive is in its 17th year and this year’s goal is to collect 150,000 toys by December 24.

“The holidays are a time of giving, and there is no better way of giving than to help a needy family provide presents to their children,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “Vaughan has been blessed with having a very caring and sharing community. We are proud to be involved in such a noble cause.”

CTV weather anchor Tom Brown broadcasted live from the event while residents, schools, community organizations and businesses donated new, unwrapped toys for children aged newborn to 18 years of age.
