City of Vaughan Offers Training for Park Ambassador Program

April 24, 2014

The City of Vaughan is offering two training courses for anyone wishing to volunteer and become a park ambassador. The training sessions are being held on Saturday, April 26 at the Joint Operations Centre from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Wednesday, May 7 at the North Thornhill Community Centre from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Park ambassadors are the eyes and ears in the City’s community parks. They visit and monitor parks on a regular basis and send updates on park activity to City of Vaughan staff.

As part of their commitment to the program, park ambassadors are asked to attend a yearly training seminar and commit to visiting their assigned park at least once a week. Park ambassadors also complete a monthly park safety audit report during the summer months and report any concerns they have.

Anyone interested in becoming a park ambassador should fill out an application form. For more information on the program, please contact Robert Leonardis at robert.leonardis@vaughan.ca or 905-832-8577, ext. 6172.
