Culture Days are back in Vaughan!
Enjoy virtual events celebrating the city’s
diversity, creativity and inclusion
Events like Culture Days are one of many ways the City supports cultural and artistic diversity in Vaughan. Enriching resident lives with art and cultural expression through events, exhibits and festivals is part of providing Service Excellence to citizens as outlined in the 2018-2022 Term of Council priorities.
Every year during the month of October, the City of Vaughan
hosts Culture Days. This free, national event brings the community together to
celebrate diversity, artistic and cultural endeavours and the spirit of
togetherness. From Friday, Sept. 24 until Sunday, Oct. 24, citizens can enjoy
more than 20 virtual events and interactive programs with Culture Days.
This annual celebration
has something for everyone, from exploring the McMichael Canadian Art
Collection virtually to experiencing the diverse sounds and culture of the city
from the comfort of home, and more. Please note: The City of Vaughan is not
holding any in-person events related to Culture Days, however, some events are
being run by third parties.

The Social Bubble is a
public art installation speaking to the resilience of our community and how
artists are responding to the global pandemic. It is composed of art pieces
encapsulated by recycled clear plastic. The sculpture includes pieces of art
from local artists, responding to how COVID-19 has impacted their creative
life. Every piece of plastic in this sculpture is recycled. Recycled plastic is
important to this structure because it reduces waste in our community and
repurposes objects into fine art. This year, World Clean Up Day was on Sept.
18, 2021 and the Social Bubble encourages others to look at their waste and
recycle or repurpose materials into art pieces. Art is essential. Art has
maintained a life through centuries and is prominent all over the globe.
