Enhancing Vaughan’s parks

The recently renovated Glen Shields Park is now open for the community to enjoy


Vaughan residents can now get their play on at a newly improved park in Vaughan! Last night, an official reopening celebration was held for Glen Shields Park. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an on-site interactive DJ and free ice cream. Members of Council and nearly 500 individuals from the Glen Shields community came out to celebrate. Thank you to everyone who joined in on the fun. 

Whether it be sliding, swinging, climbing or crawling, the renovated park offers plenty of space to run around, gather and play. Learn more below: 

Glen Shields Park

Location: 140 Glen Shields Ave.

New features: The renovated park includes a newly constructed playground area, improvements to the existing playground area, a new splashpad, new outdoor fitness equipment and multi-purpose court to play basketball and ball hockey, an improved acrylic-surface tennis court, upgraded accessible walkways with LED lighting and new furnishings (such as seating, bike racks, benches and picnic tables) through the park.

In addition to this park, a number of others have also been recently constructed or redeveloped – including Butterfly Heights Park, Cannes Park, Glengarry Square, Klein Mills Park, Steeles West Common Park, Maple Station Park, Marco Park, Kiloran Park, Napa Valley Park, Summit Park, and the Lawford-Cannes Greenway.
