Residents are invited to learn about Vaughan’s smart city initiatives

Vaughan is in the midst of a historic transformation. As the City continues to move forward, it is important to empower the community to think about the future. Working to become a smart city is a chance to encourage civic engagement, accelerate economic growth and generate efficiencies.

Vaughan is realizing its vision for a smart city with a focus on prosperity, inclusivity and resiliency to ensure long-term economic vitality. It is adopting and applying new technologies consistent with priorities defined by citizen collaboration.

Ongoing community engagement is vital to the City’s success. Join Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council at the smARTcities SALON taking place on Thursday, March 22, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room at Vaughan City Hall. The evening will feature a panel discussion and exchange of ideas about art, innovation and city-building. Notable panelists include Oren Berkovich (CEO of SingularityU Canada Summit), Lilian Radovac (University of Toronto Professor, Urbanist and Cultural Historian) and City of Vaughan Chief Information Officer Frank Di Palma.

Residents and visitors can also view the smARTcities: exploring the digital frontier art exhibition in the atrium of Vaughan City Hall and enjoy an artist tour after the SALON discussion. All featured works were created by celebrated digital artist Ron Wild and will be on display until July 6, 2018. This demonstration is part of Vaughan’s ongoing work to use technology, innovation and digital solutions to become a smart city and elevate the quality of life for all citizens.
