City officially launches MOBYSS at Dufferin Clark Community Centre

Receiving medical attention is now easier than ever for youth in Vaughan as a mobile clinic is rolling into town. Called MOBYSS (Mobile York South Simcoe), the program is in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association CMHA – York and Simcoe South and 360°kids. It offers free, non-judgmental, confidential healthcare and will be parked at Dufferin Clark Community Centre every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A special ceremony will take place at the community centre to officially launch this service on Thursday, Oct. 13. Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council, along with dignitaries from CMHA – York and South Simcoe and 360°kids, will be joined by students from Vaughan Secondary School to celebrate this initiative. The event will include a tour of the mobile clinic, refreshments, literature, giveaways, and free access to the community centre gymnasium and Youth Room for activities and games.

About MOBYSS

MOBYSS provides residents aged 12-25 years compassionate, youth-centred health services such as counselling, support and referrals from a mental health worker, peer support specialist and nurse practitioner. No appointments or health card are necessary. The bus travels around York Region to make it easier for youth to access services.

MOBYSS began as a pilot project at Dufferin Clark Community Centre on Sept. 8, 2016 and dozens of youth have since used the service. The initiative supports the City’s mission to provide Service Excellence to residents, making physical and mental healthcare accessible to vulnerable youth in our community.
