Place up to six garbage items for collection in the weeks of Jan. 4 or 11

What better way to get a fresh start this new year than by kicking it off with Double-Up Days! On your regularly scheduled garbage collection day during the weeks of Jan. 4 or Jan. 11, you can place up to six items to the curb – no paid tags are required. All materials must be set out by 7 a.m. on collection day. Visit vaughan.ca/waste for additional details.

Large and bulky items

Some large and bulky items, such as furniture, can be placed curbside and count as one garbage item. Ensure items do not exceed 68 kilograms (150 pounds) and are free of hazards, such as protruding nails. If disassembled, the parts must be safely secured together in a bundle not exceeding 20 kilograms (45 pounds). The City reserves the right to refuse unsafe, overweight or oversized items. Keep items dry to reduce the weight for collection crews. For more information, visit the City’s large and bulky items webpage.

Residential appliance and metal pickup

Are you looking to dispose of appliances or large metal items? The City collects these items on Thursdays by appointment only. Book an appointment and payment through Service Vaughan or call Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281. For more information, visit the City’s Appliance and Metal Pickup webpage.

2022 Waste Collection Schedule

In case you missed it, the 2022 Waste Collection Schedule is now available! The new schedule offers a year at a glance of weekly and seasonal changes to services, including leaf and yard waste collection and Curbside Giveaway Days, all on one page. New this year, a blue and yellow version based on your zone is available for download online at vaughan.ca/WasteCalendar. Alternately, download the free Recycle Coach app for a personalized collection schedule and reminders, as well as access to the ‘What Goes Where’ tool to search common waste items and where they go.
