In-person programs start today at select pools

If watching Team Canada make a splash at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics made you miss the pool, then get ready to dive back into swimming lessons with the City of Vaughan! Select learn-to-swim lessons start today at Al Palladini, Chancellor, North Thornhill and Vellore Village community centre pools.

Pre-registration is required and can be done at vaughan.perfectmind.com. Offerings include select levels of the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program, available daily for one or two weeks, or twice a week for three weeks until Friday, Sept. 3. Available levels include:

  • Adult 3
  • Parent and Tot 1 to 3
  • Swimmer 4 to 10
  • Private and semi-private for swimmers in levels 4 to 6
    • For semi-private lessons, register one participant in a one-on-one swim timeslot, then email swim@vaughan.ca to co-ordinate the registration of the second participant.
  • Special needs: one-on-one
    • Parents or guardians are required to complete a Special Needs Information Form (PDF) and provide documentation of their child’s disability or a doctor’s certificate noting that their child has a disability and one-on-one swimming is recommended. Participants must provide their own support worker who is required to be in the water as the swim instructor will remain on deck. To ask a question or request more information, please email specialneeds@vaughan.ca.
To continue to protect all swimmers and staff from COVID-19, swim instructors will remain on deck during lessons and wear a face covering or mask. Swim levels requiring direct contact, like Preschool 1 to 5 or Swimmer 1 to 3, will resume when public health guidelines permit. Physical distancing protocols will be in place, wherever possible.

The pool viewing gallery is open to parents and guardians at reduced capacity and masks are mandatory. As part of the check-in procedure, everyone is required to complete the Provincial Public Health Self-assessment prior to entering the facility.

Parents and guardians who are unsure about what level to register their child in can get a free assessment from a City of Vaughan lifeguard during any recreational swim. Regular admission policies apply. Visit vaughan.ca/swim for recreational swim times and fees.

If you require assistance creating an online registration account, call Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281 or email RecCSD@vaughan.ca or watch this short informational video
