Golfers put their best clubs forward for charity
Mayor’s annual golf tournament raises much-needed funds
for not-for-profit and community organizations
The 2019 Mayor
Maurizio Bevilacqua Annual Charity Golf Classic was a sold-out event as
hundreds of golfers gathered in support of the Spirit of Generosity, an
initiative that is making a profound and positive impact on the well-being of
people in our community.
Since
2011, the efforts and events of Mayor Bevilacqua’s Spirit of Generosity
commitment have raised more than $70 million. Proceeds have gone to help over
200 not-for-profit and community organizations that play a vital role in
shaping the City of Vaughan.
Major
developments taking shape reflect the Vaughan vision to create a city with
purpose including the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, Canada’s first smart
hospital, and Niagara University, the first post-secondary institution in York
Region. Transit City, MET condos, EXPO City, the PwC-YMCA and the KPMG tower
are transformational projects that are shaping the city’s growing skyline.
QUOTE
“This is an
important time in Vaughan because, as a city, we are experiencing incredible
growth and success. This upward momentum is a result of our focused and
dedicated approach to city building, of which a crucial component is ensuring
that we collectively move forward without leaving anyone behind. This is what the Spirit of Generosity is all
about – sharing our resources, our gifts and our talents so that everyone,
regardless of age, ability, gender or creed, has the opportunity to improve,
contribute and live their best life with dignity. This is only possible through
the generous and thoughtful support of engaged and enlightened corporate and
community leaders who truly understand what it means to give back. I want to
express my most sincere gratitude of their important role in making the Spirit
of Generosity and the City of Vaughan a success.”
