Ward 5 Civic Hero Award presented to Shane Farberman
Passionate.
Dedicated. Enthusiastic. These attributes define the City of Vaughan’s 2018 Ward
5 Civic Hero, Shane Farberman. Professionally known as DooDoo the Clown, Shane gifts
local and international audiences with optimism, joy and laughter.
Throughout
his 36-year career, Shane has appeared in several major motion pictures and in more
than 100 commercials. He also performs live on stage for audiences of all ages
at fairs and festivals across Canada, including right here in Vaughan.
Beyond
his role as DooDoo the Clown, Shane is a proud Vaughan citizen who demonstrates
compassion both on and offstage. He is a board member of the Children’s Aid
Foundation of York Region, volunteers for Vaughan in Motion for Cancer Care,
performs at local hospitals and children’s organizations, and volunteers his
time at hundreds of shows. In 2015, Shane was also recognized in media outlets
around the world as a Canadian hero for his role in assisting two women to
safety in an incident in Toronto.

QUICK FACTS
- Mayor and Members of Council presented Shane Farberman with the 2018 Ward 5 Civic Hero Award during a special ceremonial presentation in Committee of the Whole Public Hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
- Vaughan’s Civic Hero Awards are presented annually to one resident from each of the City’s five wards.
- Recipients are nominated by their local Ward Councillor and acknowledged by Vaughan Council.
- The awards began in 2005 and recognize outstanding achievement and individual contributions to the community.
