City continues to provide supports to businesses with new sponsorship opportunity

Spring is almost here and flowers will soon start to bloom! Businesses in Vaughan looking for a new way to advertise can put their name on a City flower bed. Launched last year, the Grow with Vaughan horticulture sponsorship program aims to support small businesses through a cost-effective and highly visible partnership opportunity.

There are many locations available around the city. Each site is priced based on traffic counts, size and visibility in the surrounding area. Flower beds will be available for sponsorship until Wednesday, March 31.

For more information on how to sponsor a City flower bed, visit vaughan.ca/CorporatePartnerships.

Vaughan is home to more than 19,000 businesses with small businesses making up more than 80 per cent of them. Supporting the local economy throughout the global pandemic has been a top priority for the City.

Programs like Grow with Vaughan reflect the City’s continuing support for the business community. COVID-19 has impacted many over the last year and the City is supporting them through many other programs initiated since the beginning of the pandemic, including:

Open for Business

The voluntary Open for Business online directory includes both essential services and businesses that are open or providing modified operations by phone, online, takeout or delivery in compliance with provincial and municipal regulations. Vaughan businesses interested in being included in the list must apply and can do so through this online form.

Vaughan Business Resilience Plan

The City’s Vaughan Business Resilience Plan (PDF) is an immediate and long-term plan to help Vaughan’s business community build capacity to adapt to the post-COVID-19 world.

Through this plan, the Economic and Cultural Development department helps businesses and the economy build resilience; builds resilience into key economic opportunities and strategic sectors like healthcare, supply-chain and manufacturing, and tourism; and shares Vaughan’s reimagined public spaces within physical distancing guidelines and invite the community to experience Vaughan’s culture and arts.

#ShopVaughanLocal

Show local love for Vaughan businesses! The City encourages residents to shop local.

Make a difference by:
  • dining in, ordering takeout or get a delivery from a local restaurant.
  • shopping online or in-person from local businesses.
  • sharing the #ShopVaughanLocal on social media platforms.
  • buying gift cards from local businesses to use at a later date.
Launched in April 2020, the #ShopVaughanLocal initiative is one of the many measures introduced by the City to provide relief to the business community and help ease the financial burden caused by COVID-19.
