Have fun with Vaughan while school is out!

The City is offering an array of camps for kids over the December break
 

The holidays are around the corner, and you may be looking for something your kids can do during the December school break. The City of Vaughan has you covered! Full-day in-person camps for children aged four to 17 years old will be held at select community centres and the Vaughan Studios & Event Space. Registration is already underway at vaughan.perfectmind.com so be sure to save your spot! 

Camps run on weekdays beginning Tuesday, Dec. 27 until Friday, Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily with flexible drop-off from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and pickup between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Flexible drop-off is not available at the Vaughan Studios & Event Space. 

In addition to the classic Winter Adventures camp, where children ages four to 12 can enjoy a variety of arts and crafts, games and sports, there are many specialty camps to choose from. Highlights include: 

Aqua Adventures (for children aged seven to 12 years old)
Learn proper stroke techniques and water safety during daily swim lessons followed by fun water play.
Locations: Chancellor, Dufferin Clark, Father E. Bulfon and Vellore Village community centres 

Dancing Chefs (for children aged eight to 13 years old)
Elevate your cooking in the gourmet teaching kitchen and practise and perform in the dance studio alongside a mirrored wall and ballet barres.
Location: Vaughan Studios & Event Space  

For the Love of Art (for children aged seven to 12 years old)
Why chose between creative and performing arts when you can dance, do improv, paint and draw?
Locations: Al Palladini and North Thornhill community centres 

Full STEAM Ahead! (for children aged seven to 12 years old)
Create acrylic paintings and mosaic art, draw cartoons, model sculptures out of clay or paper mâché. Then challenge yourself to exciting STEM activities like the egg drop or marble run, and design innovative structures using simple craft materials.
Locations: Al Palladini and North Thornhill community centres 

Learn to Love Skate (for children aged six to 12 years old)
Learn balance, control, gliding on two feet, backwards skating, crossovers, turning and stopping.
Locations: Al Palladini, Maple, Rosemount community centres and Woodbridge Pool & Memorial Arena 

Mission to Mars with Minecraft (for children aged seven to 11 years old)
Complete a variety of Minecraft missions that are necessary for survival and the advancement of science on the Red Planet.
Locations: Al Palladini Community Centre 

Splash into Sports (for children aged seven to 12 years old)
Play some of your favourite sports in and out of the water. Basketball, soccer, sporty theme days and daily swimming are just a few of the exciting activities planned.
Locations: Maple, North Thornhill and Vellore Village community centres 

Sticks & Steel Hockey Camp (for children aged six to 12 years old)
Through instruction and high tempo drills, players develop basic skills such as stickhandling, making and receiving passes on both forehand and backhand, shooting, stride/edge control and skating speed.
Locations: Al Palladini, Maple, Rosemount community centres and Woodbridge Pool & Memorial Arena 

Stop Motion Animation (for children aged seven to 12 years old)
Bring your LEGO, action figures and toys to life. Learn how to storyboard, develop a script, create camera angles, edit, add special effects, music and titles to make a stop motion animation.
Locations: Maple and Rosemount community centres 

Teen Fitness (for youth ages 12-17)
Learn proper workout techniques, how to use cardio and weight training equipment, and receive nutrition tips from Vaughan Fitness staff. Finish off your fitness routine with a swim in the pool.
Locations: North Thornhill and Vellore Village community centres
