Public input is being sought on a variety of city-building initiatives

Vaughan is a city on the move – and despite the global COVID-19 pandemic, city-building has not slowed down. Public consultation also remains an important and necessary part of the process and Vaughan is committed to providing virtual opportunities for citizens and stakeholders to be engaged, learn about active projects, provide feedback and get involved.

You are encouraged to join these current conversations – virtually – from the safety and comfort of home. By participating, you can help inform municipal decisions and shape the future of Vaughan.

2022 Budget Process
The City is developing its 2022 Budget and 2023 to 2026 Capital Plan – and you can get involved. Three electronic-participation public meetings are taking place in December to address this year’s budget:
  • Special Committee of the Whole (Public Meeting) on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.
  • Special Committee of the Whole (Public Meeting) on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.
  • *New date* Special Council Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m.

Participate by speaking live to Council via teleconference or telephone, submitting written communications and more. View details and other ways to get involved in this year’s budget process at vaughan.ca/budget. Watch a livestream of these meetings at vaughan.ca/LiveCouncil.

Official Plan Review Community Working Group
Get Inspired; Get Involved! The City is recruiting up to 20 volunteer members of the Vaughan community to join the Vaughan Official Plan Review Community Working Group and provide vital input to help shape the updated Official Plan, including the revised vision for Vaughan. This group will not be a decision-making body. Its mandate is to provide insight and guidance to the City in support of the Vaughan Official Plan Review. For more information, view the application package at vaughan.ca/OPR. If interested, email a complete application to oprmanager@vaughan.ca before Friday, Nov. 5 at 4:30 p.m. Individuals can call 905-832-2281, ext. 8699 with any questions.

Weston 7 Secondary Plan
The Weston Road and Highway 7 area is changing. On Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m., attend a virtual Public Meeting to learn more and get involved in the City’s growth plans for the area – including the Weston 7 Secondary Plan Study and the supporting Weston 7 Transportation Master Plan Study. An overview of these studies will be presented, and a live question and answer period will help address questions and collect feedback on the vision for future transportation in the area. Facilitated over Zoom, interested participants can join the session via the link provided at vaughan.ca/Weston7 on the day of the meeting.
