Learn about the City’s Promenade Centre Secondary Plan Study at a virtual open house on July 7

A home to many, a place to shop, gather and grow – the area around the Promenade mall, known as the Promenade Centre, is under review. As outlined in the Vaughan Official Plan 2010, the City of Vaughan is undertaking the Promenade Centre Secondary Plan Study that will establish a vision, key principles and a complete land-use plan to guide future development – and the community is invited to get involved. A virtual public open house will be held on Wednesday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. for participants to receive an update on the study’s progress and ask questions. Details are available at vaughan.ca/PromenadeCentre.

The Promenade Centre study area is bounded by Centre Street, Bathurst Street, Clark Avenue West and New Westminster Drive, and also includes the Promenade mall and surrounding area. Once complete, the secondary plan will provide the policy framework and resulting land use plan to guide the future development of the area. The plan will also provide for the development of a residential mixed-use and transit-supportive, complete community. The project will also include an extensive transportation study to help move people through the area by all modes of travel – walking, cycling, transit and driving.

Public input continues to be an integral part of this study. Feedback has been gathered throughout the study process, including a public open house and pop-up event. The public is once again invited to join the conversation by attending an upcoming Public Open House on Wednesday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. virtually, via Zoom. Participants will learn about the study’s progress, hear next steps and ask the project team questions during an open question and answer session. Following the Public Open House, a comment period will remain open until Monday, July 19, allowing additional written comments and questions to be shared with the City through the project’s dedicated email at promenadecentre@vaughan.ca.
