Do you live in or travel through the Huntington Road and New Kleinburg area? If so, you’re invited to get involved in our road safety review!

In response to growing transportation demands and our commitment to monitoring and addressing road safety and sustainable modes of travel, the City of Vaughan is undertaking multiple traffic studies through the Corridor Reviews. A corridor refers to a linear road and its associated land uses.

The latest study area includes Huntington Road, from Major Mackenzie Drive to Kirby Road, and both major subdivisions accessible by Timber Creek Boulevard and Barons Street.

Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Attend our virtual information session on Thursday, June 13 at 7 p.m. This is your chance to hear from the project team and ask questions. Registration is encouraged.
  • Complete an online survey by Sunday, June 23 at 11:59 p.m. to provide feedback with respect to traffic, transportation and safety in the study area. The survey will take about 10 to 20 minutes to complete.
  • Drop a pin on this interactive map by Sunday, June 23 at 11:59 p.m. to identify where you see opportunities to enhance road safety.

Why is the City doing a study in this area?

This area was selected based on community interests, such as traffic congestion, traffic circulation, truck traffic movements, operating speeds, pedestrian and cycling safety and on-street parking.

By assessing traffic operations in the area, the City can identify opportunities to address road safety and the overall transportation experience for all users – including those who walk, cycle, roll, take transit or drive on or around the Huntington Road and New Kleinburg area. In addition to examining vehicle speeds, traffic volumes, site conditions and existing traffic control and calming measures, City staff will work with the community to collect feedback on existing conditions and propose recommendations.

This review will build upon the work completed as part of the City’s Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Plan. Visit vaughan.ca/NeighbourhoodPlan to learn more about the pilot project underway.
