Introducing the new Waste Calendar
The 2021 edition is coming to your mailbox soon and available online
In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Vaughan continues to modify and transition many services and programs online to support citizens and businesses. As part of this approach, the 2021 Waste Collection Schedule (PDF) has been redesigned and will be easily accessible online and in a condensed hard-copy version.
The new 2021 Waste Collection Schedule is more responsive and convenient for readers, highlighting the entire year on one page. The schedule also includes Double-Up Days, leaf and yard waste collection and other important waste reminders.
It will be arriving in mailboxes across Vaughan starting the week of Dec. 14, 2020. Residents can also download the free Recycle Coach app to receive waste-less tips and a personalized waste schedule with optional alerts on what to put to the curb each week. These offerings all reflect the City’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

With the holidays around the corner, the City is reminding residents about proper waste set out during winter months, holiday waste schedule changes and Christmas tree collection.
Waste during winter months
To help ensure waste is collected during winter months, all materials, including Christmas trees, should be kept off the road and snowbanks. Waste should be set out on the right side of the driveway approximately one metre (three feet) from the curbside to avoid snowplows. The right side of the driveway is defined as the right side when standing at the curb facing the home. For more information or to watch an instructional video, visit vaughan.ca/waste.
Holiday waste schedule changes
There is no waste collection on Friday, Dec. 25, 2020 or Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. Collection on these dates will be moved one day to Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020 and Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, respectively. For more information, please visit vaughan.ca/waste.
Christmas tree collection
For two weeks, starting Tuesday, Jan. 5 until Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, residents can place Christmas trees out on their regular waste collection day. When placing trees curbside, remove all tinsel, ornaments and plastic bags. Ensure the tree is placed off the road and snowbanks so collection staff can access safely.
